I was born in Shanghai, China. I got my bachelor's and master's degrees at Fudan University. Afterwards, I worked with Dr. Wilma Olson at Rutgers University for Ph.D. Now, I am a post-doctoral fellow in Dr. Tamar Schlick's lab at New York University.

I am interested in RNA structural biology. RNA has obtained increasingly attend in the last few years. The discovery of ncRNAs, including microRNA, small nuclear RNA, small nucleolar RNA, has led us to a new world of RNA where it plays a variety of biological roles. In addition, the crystal structure of ribosome has largely advanced our knowledge of RNA tertiary interaction and RNA folding. Specifically, I am interested in RNA tertiary interactions, RNA folding, characterization of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs).
My Ph.D. thesis was about the classification of non-canonical (non-Watson-Crick) base pairs in RNA structures. I analyzed base pairs involved in RNA secondary and tertiary interactions. I developed a database to provide base-pair-based interactions in RNA. The Database of RNA Base-pair Structures (BPS) is a database of RNA base pairs with quantitative information on the spatial arrangements of interacting bases, including higher-order base associations, and the context of these interactions in high-resolution crystal structures.
